CroMag 2023: The Drive Up

On the drive up to Vermont, we stopped at Madison Brewing and I was both excited and nervous to see they still had fish n chips on the menu.

7(!) years ago, in the early spring of that year, I had terrible fish n chips – just a soggy, breaded mess. The whole summer I was on a mission. Anywhere we ate that had them, I got them, just to try to find something good. It was not easy! Apparently “soggy breaded mess” is common.

Finally, on our trip up to Vermont that year, I found the best I’ve had yet. Madison Brewing saved the summer! And I can tell you, these many years later, that remains true!

And along with it, a delicious pumpkin beer with a cinnamon-sugar rim. I hear you groaning, emphatic that “that ain’t no real beer”. Hate on! I loved it and the bartender even gave me a to-go container of the cinnamon-sugar for the camping trip. A+ in my book!

Then there was some walking about town, with a stop to a local distillery and then finishing the drive to the campground to set up for the long weekend.
