I have been rereading Julia Cameron’s Walking in this World, part of the Artist’s Way series. Her focus in this book is about taking walks and, of course, her recommendation for taking yourself on “artist dates”.
I use Wednesday mornings to work on this “side shuffle”. That could be working on the website, the social marketing or going out and getting inspiration and taking photos.
The morning was beautiful, my coffee delicious and I was up with some time to spare before starting the day. I realized I hadn’t been out of the house for anything other than the usual grocery shopping and other errands.
On the spur of the moment, I decided that I would go visit the nursery that is very close to my house. What better place for someone who loves taking photos of flowers?
The only other people there were the grounds crew and one other couple. The crew had clearly just finished watering everything that morning, creating some great chances for water droplets on petals!
While I resisted some a beautiful bush of orange roses, I did come away with two small pots of filler flowers for the flower boxes on my front porch.
Sometimes a trip to the nursery is just what is needed.
