Beauty. Attention. Creation.

Oh so Manly

June 7, 2010 by Rayna Diane Hennen

I’ve always been attracted to packaging. I don’t work in the package design industry – I don’t think I have the brain particles necessary for 3D design.  I didn’t take to 3D software very well, unfortunately. It would have been great to get into video game design, which is actually a good segue way into my topic as the video game market appears to be predominantly male. Lately in the

Tap, Tap

May 31, 2010 by Rayna Diane Hennen

I guess it could be considered a new year’s resolution though I never officially decided that it would be. It developed out of a moment of self-awareness: my relationship issues were actually more my fault than anything else.

A New Year

January 3, 2010 by Rayna Diane Hennen

I like that it’s really cold right now. It is refreshing, especially in the mornings. Even the coldest days are welcomed, if briefly, for the relief and reprieve from the stifling morning heat that pervades our apartment.

Say Something!

December 12, 2009 by Rayna Diane Hennen

These aren’t mind-blowing revelations by any means but I think they’re important. The in-house design department I work in suffered for a long time because we didn’t speak up. We also compromise a lot since there are more than 3 people involved in any given project, which can be frustrating but if you really believe that what you’re thinking should be done will benefit the project, say it.

What is home?

November 22, 2009 by Rayna Diane Hennen

What is home? Or what feels like home? Arguably, it might be somewhere you have lived for most of your life, somewhere you are familiar. You know the weak spots in the floorboards, just how to turn the closet door handle to shut it, and where to hit certain appliances to make them work. But I don’t think that it has to necessarily be. I am ‘home’ right now. I

Perfection Confinement

August 10, 2009 by Rayna Diane Hennen

I have this perfection issue. I think that when I write or make something it has to come out “right” the first time.

I am at the point where I have to be vigilant. I h I am at the point where I have to be vigilant. I have been here before, trying to capture an idea. ✏️

These prep steps are necessary, for sure. Trying to dive into some things with no prep or planning

But.

Prepping and planning can go on forever as a way of not ruining the idea in your head. In fact… writing this post is a way of productively procrastinating.

I am at the point where I could draw an outline of the flower shape that I want to do but my brain is like OMG you’re going to ruin it because you have no idea what I'm doing (I don't). Welcome to perfectionism - my arch nemesis!

This is productive because I am working through my thoughts to stave off perfectionism and creating a post to share on social (which I'm really consistent about...)

Now about that painting outline...

Continuing with the Bluebeard collage. After doing Continuing with the Bluebeard collage. After doing this I changed the blade on the xacto – the edges of the chair had white rough edges.

Bluebeard is originally a French folktale though many countries have a version. In the spirit of IMDB unhelpful, one-line descriptions of movies: A man with a deadly secret, intent on luring a young woman to be his new bride. 😄 🤷

A little more specific: The tale is about a wealthy man in the habit of murdering his wives and the attempts of the present one to avoid the fate of the previous wives. 🫣

This will be for the first spread, the ‘romance’ – truly, it’s not romantic, he’s trying to sway one of the sisters into, what will be a not so sweet marriage.

There will be 5 spreads total: the romance, finding the little door, the bloody key, the brothers to the rescue, and (kind of a gruesome end) the vulture.
