Welcome back crafter!

August 6, 2010 by Rayna Diane Hennen

So after a few years of my crafting languishing in the background I have gone back to it with a vengeance! Why did it languish?

Oh so Manly

June 7, 2010 by Rayna Diane Hennen

I’ve always been attracted to packaging. I don’t work in the package design industry – I don’t think I have the brain particles necessary for 3D design.  I didn’t take to 3D software very well, unfortunately. It would have been great to get into video game design, which is actually a good segue way into my topic as the video game market appears to be predominantly male. Lately in the

Tap, Tap

May 31, 2010 by Rayna Diane Hennen

I guess it could be considered a new year’s resolution though I never officially decided that it would be. It developed out of a moment of self-awareness: my relationship issues were actually more my fault than anything else.

A New Year

January 3, 2010 by Rayna Diane Hennen

I like that it’s really cold right now. It is refreshing, especially in the mornings. Even the coldest days are welcomed, if briefly, for the relief and reprieve from the stifling morning heat that pervades our apartment.

Say Something!

December 12, 2009 by Rayna Diane Hennen

These aren’t mind-blowing revelations by any means but I think they’re important. The in-house design department I work in suffered for a long time because we didn’t speak up. We also compromise a lot since there are more than 3 people involved in any given project, which can be frustrating but if you really believe that what you’re thinking should be done will benefit the project, say it.

What is home?

November 22, 2009 by Rayna Diane Hennen

What is home? Or what feels like home? Arguably, it might be somewhere you have lived for most of your life, somewhere you are familiar. You know the weak spots in the floorboards, just how to turn the closet door handle to shut it, and where to hit certain appliances to make them work. But I don’t think that it has to necessarily be. I am ‘home’ right now. I

🤪 I have been working on the second module of t 🤪 I have been working on the second module of the floral ink drawing course I signed up for a few months ago. ha ha, oh my gosh a test of my rusty drawing skills and my patience!

The thing I have to keep reminding myself, especially when I'm watching her do the inking: she's been doing this for years. This is what she does for a living. I'm not supposed to get it right the first (or second... probably not third either...) time.

A close up of a reddish dogwood. I love close ups A close up of a reddish dogwood. I love close ups of flowers that make them seem abstract.

During a floral photography course, the instructor said that abstract photos do not really count as floral photos. While on the one hand I can see what she means, it is still a flower!

What do you think?

I feel like I just flipped the calendar to March b I feel like I just flipped the calendar to March but here we are - April! I use a calendar of my own photos but after checking them in Dec, when I get the prints, I never peak ahead or actually remember what pictures I chose.

Happy to see that April is one of my favorites from last year 😍

I actually did finish the flower right before the I actually did finish the flower right before the end of the year and then... travel. Lots of travel. 😴 I will be working through the next module soon but here is the finished flower and some the process before it.

There is definitely room for improvement (my background lines need to feel softer) but there are also things I really like about it (the flower actually seems round and soft to me).

I signed up for the @ioanapioaru Drawing Flowers course and after being away for a few weeks, I am happy to get back to it! Once I started drawing again, I realized how much I missed it and loved it. 🌸
