The poem starts out “I like a certain shade of lipstick…” and goes on with references to war, cabaret and far away places covered in snow. I felt that the lighting in this catalog cover image conveyed that feeling of another time and place. And of course she is putting on that certain shade of lipstick!
I was determined that, before I went on my three week trip to visit my mother, that I was going to finish my summer wreath. I think that green yarn covered circle had been sitting on my desk staring me down for around two months! Enough is enough! I went to a at a BBQ this past weekend and one of the fellas made these absolutely wonderful red velvet cupcakes. They were just perfect – moist, even texture and the frosting was even edible. I’ve never been a big fan of red velvet cake though I’ve always assumed it’s because I’ve only had it from big grocery stores. Always too much sugar in everything especially the frosting. But
Depending upon where you first enter the fair, it seems deceptively small it is definitely not. According the Fair website, there were over 300 artists! It’s probably good that it is two days because it can be a little overwhelming.
An often overlook element of the work-flow process is layers. All the Adobe products use layers. They are great – you can have a layer for every little line in your project if you want. It’s actually a great thing for editing a file later. So when aren’t they beneficial? When you haven’t named a single one of them and someone else has to use your file to edit a project. Note: the next person could be you in six months. Will you remember what Layer 135 is?
Just came back from a trip to San Francisco. Technically, it was my second visit since I was there a few years ago for a design conference but since I didn’t really get to do any sight-seeing, I count this as my first trip. I stayed with a really good friend for 4 days and I can’t believe how much we did! Phew! This rose was taken at the Sutter
It sounded simple enough – Vet clinic name, cat, dog, heart shape. The client had a rough sketch done of what she had in mind. some designer might mind this; I like a jumping off point especially when there is drawing or illustration involved. I’ll try different angles of course, but a clear direction inst’ such a bad thing. In this case, the original position of the cat and dog ended up being too awkward to create. The animals just didn’t look… comfortable.
I forgot about this photo a few months ago when I made my first recipe with shallots. I remember loving how smoothly and easily the shallots gave under the knife and how pretty they were. The purple skins and the white insides against the texture of the cutting board. This photo is a happy rediscovery. Now, what WAS that recipe… I do remember it was quite tasty!
Was out running some errands while visiting my mom during Thanksgiving… Nah, who am I kidding? I went to the craft store! Even if I had to go can that really be considered something as mundane as an errand?! So, was on the way back up the windy, twisty road and it had been snowing, just a dusting though. Everything was just covered enough to wipe away the dreary browns
