In my quest for teapots and cups, I rediscovered a particular Anthropologie catalog. It had a kind of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ theme so one would assume there had to be something related to tea in there (hello mad hatter!) though not as much as I thought there would.
Art Journal: Week Three
While I was working on it I thought – isn’t that really what framed photos are like? You frame them because the memory was great or the image is beautiful and they are confined to that little rectangle area but they are bigger than that.
Art Journal: Week Two
This week’s art journal inspiration: Black Swan. What an intense movie. Natalie Portman did such a phenomenal job and Barbara Hershey was the perfect overbearing mother. Natalie’s character, Nina, was probably 20 or so and her mother would still undress her – even taking her earrings out! The dancers in the movie were dancing Swan Lake. It is a love story of the white swan who loves a prince but
Winter Wreath
January always seems to be such a dreary month. Christmas is over, the decorations have come down, and the days are short (though slowly getting longer!). A while back I bought the Holidays & Celebrations magazine from Somerset Magazines. It’s not just for Christmas, though, they have Valentine’s Day, Easter and Halloween, too. There was a how-to for a ‘prize ribbon wreath’, by Lori Oles, within the first few pages that
Art Journal: Week One
I decided this year to keep a weekly art journal. I’ve always kept a journal – I have a storage container full of them probably from when I was 8 or 9. I tend to doodle a little bit in them but mostly it’s just writing and taped in mementos like movie tickets, funny notes, things like that. In my aim to incorporate more creative elements into my life in general I thought this might be fun, easy way to do that every week.
I saw a Yarnbombing!!
completely forgot that, on Saturday, I passed a VW Bug that had been Yarnbombed!!
The Mom Swatch Pillows Progressing Nicely!
Actually, the measuring/gauge was fine I just forgot to add an inch to each side for the seams. Silly rabbit. Better noticing at 6 inches than 16. I then had to undo about 2 or 3 inches 2 different times because I botched the double moss stitch border, probably by not paying attention (maybe knitting and season premieres don’t go well together…).
A Little Art, A Little Yarn
I hadn’t been in a yarn store in so long. Michael’s arts and crafts is just not the same. Yes, they have yarn (but not enough and it’s the same yarn in every store) and yes, they are great for just about everything but it’s not the same. Walking into a yarn store is peaceful. All the yarns and colors reaching to the ceiling and walking around just touching the yarn and thinking of all the wonderful things that could be from all that glorious yarn!
Soft & Pretty – White Mirror
The paint may be my favorite part and I didn’t know it would look the way it does when I started painting. The paint went on very thick and so as I added more paint, there are layers that are raised and softer and areas where the paint is thinner and you can see the wood grain.
